A:1.install the solar panel under strong sunshine, and install lamp seperately in yard, patio, deck , floor ,steps etc.

2.use the solar panel and lamp as whole unit and install under strong sunshine.

Q:How high of the ground have to be installed?

A:Atleast 5 to 6 ft above the ground

Q:Does the light need to be activated?

A: Yes, press the on/off/mode button for 5 second to switch on.

Note it will not turn on if it's sunny or still light in your house.

Test in a dark room to the setting you want.

Motion activates it by the white ball in the front.

5.In winter, the solar light is not able to be fully charged for the lack of light. So it's normal if the solar light is not bright enough and illumination time is short. Light time depends on how much it is charged during the daytime.
